Simplicity • Clean • Quick • Tensility

“Simplicity” is being simple, while holding a quality of purity, fresh, and nature; however, it is not that kind of simple with a sense of stupid as the Chinese people say, “simple brain with strong muscles.” It also comes with a quality of “wisdom,” no matter the wise is shown in a child or an elder.1 The opposite of simplicity here is not difficulty but complication. When being simple, things are not cluttered; thus, it will automatically demonstrate a quality of simple “cleanness,” but will not appear to be boring for being simple. When things are being clean, chaotic mess has nowhere to hide. After cutting out the unwanted components, the speed of handling things will automatically become simply “quick.” When things are going quick, there won’t be unfinished things left behind. The effort of being simple is to pay attention on every small critical problem with a simple heart. When all these connected details are being taken care, the simplicity is possible to demonstrate an irresistible “tension.” The tension here symbolizes a power of inclusion. Just like the surface tension of water, the water will not leak out of a cup. Or it’s like the tension of a piece of net or cloth, it is possible to wrap a three dimensional space with a two dimensional object! However, when things look simple but lack of tensility, they will turn out to be boring. When all the details are well hidden underneath the main theme or subject, naturally a “multilevel sense of depth” can manifest behind. As you can pay attention to feel, taste, and feel the depth, a unified rule fits everywhere.

In the earlier article “Preface,” I have mentioned that this blog is going to cover different aspects, such as computing, humanity, science, music, art, philosophy, and spirituality. In fact, following the simple guide of previous paragraph, I believe that there is a simple Truth can cross the differences of aspects. Furthermore, I just digest those aspects with the guide of simplicity, and discovered a potential depth connecting them together. As “humanity” to be the foundation, a kind of “philosophy” will show. With this philosophy, a sense of “science” will be born, and this science is going to evolve the developing and application of “computer.” From such philosophy and science to create “arts” and “music”, it will lead the “spirituality” return to a peaceful harmony so that it will help the mankind to establish an abundant and fulfilled life.¶

1. The Chinese vocabulary「智慧」 is commonly being translated into “wisdom” in English. Its pronunciation is the same with the combination of two Chinese characters 「稚」and 「慧」, while the meaning of the joined characters could be interpreted as the wisdom of a child.

Post Script: After I finished this article, suddenly an inner doubt raise in my mind. “How could a such simple thing exist?” What is the good stuff like this in the world is able to make people to master one thing also to master hundreds of things? In fact, looking at things from this perspective, the opposite of simplicity turns into difficulty again, and it lost the original spirit of making complicated things simple. As I reviewed my original draft of this article, I remembered that I was writing down my thought after I finished reading Takashi Oshio’s book Economics Introduction for High School Students. Eventually, I was not aware that the topic was out of the economy domain, since I was focusing on ‘writing’ rather than ‘writing about economy.’ Applying the guide of simplicity to the ultimate goal of economics, I have seen that it should start from its original state of managing the wealth of all people. In my opinion, I believe that the demand and supply of the market is the essential fundamental simple rule, yet the evolved calculated rates and the methods of manipulation are too many. Some rules are effective today will expire on someday. While the author’s final point about “benefit others,” I agree with him quite much. Anyway, from the basic “demand” of the humanism to look into economics, there should be a way out of the contradictions of the growth of economy, and finance and taxes of a country. Yes, this is my personal opinion. If you have a better idea on this perspective and topic, please feel free to leave your precious comments. I’ll see you later!

Sneak a Moment of Freedom

There are lots of quick learning books for guiding specific skills or talents on the press market. However, many talents may not only need one’s gifted prodigy, fundamental practices but also essential. Nonetheless, people would be knock out from time to time very quick, so they will need to learn a new skill again and again, while even faster and faster. This has become a bad-repeating cycle, and that is no way out to use the existing resources and skills to sneak a moment of freedom, and to accumulate long-existing experiences before a new technology being invented or applied.

Nowadays in the business-oriented society, the competition culture has become the inevitable reality. Yet, to see the vision even further, the key thing about competition is not to look into the wins or loses, but to focus on one’s own self-positioning and to confirm one’s own meaning of existence. Starting to do anything from a “benefiting-others” perspective, eventually people are possibly to establish a better social community experience. No matter how the tools or technologies changes on the market, the basic original spirit of using the tools and technologies is never change. Everyone can do the flipping tricks, but true experiences can only be accumulated within time. A “playful” heart to experience everything is very important. When losing the joy of working, not only one’s work becomes a pain, but also it is hard to keep up and work tirelessly. The pressure to survive has taken place of the meaning for enjoying life; it is even impossible to gain the creative experiences.

Today my sneak a moment of freedom is over. I’m gonna take care of something else!¶

Rambling about *Eternity*

中文→漫談*永恆*

Everyone should have the experience of cleaning up your place, especially when there is a career move. Whenever cleaning the old stuffs, I noticed that my mood has just taken a sauna bath. My thought always jumping between different stages of returning to the past, examining the present, and looking into the future. While cleaning up the room physically, I also wipe out the dusts of my mind, and later on, I can identify the “nothing” that I shall throw away, and the really “something” that I shall treasure more…

Today, I felt unwanted to spend any pennies on a new folder, so I found an old one filled with aged files. Inside this folder, except an antique software manual that could be trashed, I accidentally recovered some documents about the same generation. One of them without the numbers of its pages, it was not easy to reorganize them in the right sequence. I sensed it to be a printed document downloaded from the web. At a very tiny moment, a flash light hit me, “Why don't I log on to the google and find it out!?” I took the action right away.

The paragraph titles inside this article repeated NetInfo for many times. I thought that it was written in the Mac OS X previewing period. Turn back to the “flash light” I mentioned earlier; there was a part two about it, I think it is something worth of sharing: When I examined my habit of using google, mostly I only input the key words to google, and then scan through the respond result while digging into and filtering out the information I really want. Almost as soon as the flashing googling moment, I was thinking if I only type in NetInfo to be the key of searching, I might still receive a goooooooooogle result. The discovered items equal to zero. At that nano second, while my eyes was staring at a literary paragraph title, “NetInfo: All-Singing, All-Dancing System Management.” “Why don’t I just pump in the whole sentence in the google search bar of Safari?” (Please don’t forget the quotation marks to quote the whole sentence if you want to try it yourself!)

“Bingo!” That’s right. It’s this article from Daemon News! I shall raise my thumb and praise google’s incredible searching power!

After the whole google searching experience, I calmed down myself today, and read carefully through the company’s overview and the basics of google search for the first time, although I’ve skimmed over it a couple times. While I read the company’s ambition over the Internet business and its mission, I was touched peacefully. Why did I get touched? Since the Internet business blooming in the middle of the 1990s, the virtual cyber space has been taking over the traditional media, and has the knowledge transmission become easier then ever. However, it also brought us to face the Big Bang of knowledge exploding pressure, while we are enjoying all the material abundance and the convenience of technologies, especially for those of lucky us who live in the developing or developed countries in today's term. Go back our topic to google again, according to its web site official, this word google came from the math terminology “googol,” and its meaning is the unimaginable number of 10 to 100th power, which also symbolizes google’s passion on conquering the tremendous amount of data shuttling on the information high way!

I have been seeking for an ultimate Truth, from moment to moment, for such a long period of time, during my living days of twelve thousand something. After reading hundreds of books, seeing and believing in thousand miles of voyages, in some manner, to get along with the knowledge-exploding era, I wish I could filter and extract out all the essence of knowledge (feeling like a dumb in a way), and dump out tons of short-lasting gunk knowledge produced by the mankind during the small piece of time comparing with the age of the universe, and to be able to glimpse all knowledge at once, in a glance of the simple Ones; And, that distillation of the human living experiences is about to be the shining thesis of today, the *Eternity!* Be the Shruti never grow old; Be the Smriti from time to time ∞

In the latter-day East, there has been a “Si-Ku-Quan-Shu, a complete book of the four thesauruses” during the Chinese Qing Dynasty commanded by the Qien-Long Emperor to be edited by scholars; While in the West about five to six hundreds ago, the Renaissance man Leonardo da Vinci’s manual scripts illustrated and noted an avant-garde rhapsody during the knowledge desert age; thus, it inspires the modern Western civilization in many fields! In the recent years, the software billionaire Bill Gates won a fraction of da Vinci’s scripts in an auction; thereafter, the “Encarta” E-encyclopedia of which makes Gates proud has been released to the publics.

Looking far from yesterday while introspecting about today, shall we figure out what to bequeath our descendant tomorrow?¶
